Having our roadmap shows us the difference between the feeling of our situation now and what we could envision ourselves feeling in a more peaceful situation. So, what was that first feeling again?

Fear • Sadness • Anger • Worry • Frustration • Uneasiness • Overwhelm • Hope • Calm • Confidence • Excitement • Empowerment • Joy • Love

Notice how each feeling is a bit better than the last as we read through it. Let’s build some stepping stones: Make any statement of appreciation at each level on the roadmap with the feeling in mind. For example:

Fear – “I appreciate that I know what I want to achieve.”
Sadness – “I appreciate being happy.”
Anger – “I appreciate that I am courageous enough to want what I deserve.”

…and so on. Go ahead, I’ll wait.

Now, repeat your statement of appreciation for Love over 3 very deep breaths, and visualise yourself again at the beach.

You did it. Appreciation catapults us out of the limited emotional space we sometimes feel stuck in.

Not only do we have our roadmap but we have seen the possibility of feeling some security at each stage even if we are just passing through – Perfect.
It’s time to delegate.

We have identified the first feeling in the current situation, envisioned a desired feeling in a future situation, and worked out the stepping stones in between. Now there is work to be done to build bridges between those stepping stones.

Imagine now you are the CEO of a bridge building company, and that you have many employees and a very good manager who can handle anything you ask. There are so many things to plan, execute, and deliver in order to complete all these bridges. Using your resources well means you decide to pass the heavy work onto your manager and team, so they can build the bridges and you can focus on directing how the stepping stones will be connected.

Now we can accept where we are, and know that even though not everything is as we aspire for it to be, we can plan and use our supports to help us achieve success. For now you’ve got a plan, so keep breathing and stay at the beach. We will take care of all of this in session.

Let’s start by reflecting on what seems to be the problem in two parts: how we feel about the situation, and the situation itself.

What feelings are available to us? Can you think of any other feelings that you can add to the list?

Fear • Sadness • Anger • Worry • Frustration • Uneasiness • Overwhelm • Hope • Calm • Confidence • Excitement • Empowerment • Joy • Love

Imagine sitting on a beach and ask:
Wouldn’t it be nice if…?
Fill in the blank with what situation could be nicer than what you are facing right now. Let’s accept the first thing that comes to your mind… Got it?

Now look at the above list and ask:
Wouldn’t it be nice if I felt…?
Let’s accept the first feeling that jumps out at you… Feel it?

Now go back to the beach. Pause. Take 3 very slow deep breaths while you visualise a peaceful place… See it?

Well done, you’ve got your roadmap. Now you can draw a line between how you feel where you are, and how you want to feel where you would like to be.
Let’s engage.
